How to Apply
Chinese Proficiency Requirements and Entrance Examination
1) Majors at Hongkou Campus
A. Chinese Language, Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages (TCSOL): Applicants must have Chinese proficiency of New HSK level 4 (a total of no less than 180) or one semester’s full-time Chinese training at any Chinese university. Those with New HSK level 4 (a total of no less than 240) may be enrolled to start from the second semester of the freshman year. Those, with New HSK level 5 (a total of no less than 195) and one year’s full-time Chinese training at any Chinese university, may be enrolled as Sophomores. Students, who have an experience of 2- years or -above Chinese training at any Chinse university and Chinese proficiency of New HSK level 6 (a total of no less than 180), may be enrolled as Juniors.
B. International Economics and Trade (Chinese), Business Administration (Chinese): Applicants must have Chinese proficiency of New HSK level 4 (a total of no less than 180) or one year’s full-time Chinese training at any Chinese university. Students with New HSK level 5 (a total of no less than 195) may be enrolled to start from the second semester of the first year. Those, with New HSK level 6 (a total of no less than 195) and one year’s full-time Chinese training at any Chinese university, may be enrolled as Sophomores after passing an entrance examination organized by School of Chinese Studies and Exchange.
C. International Politics(Chinese): Applicants must have Chinese proficiency of New HSK level 4 (a total of no less than 180) or one year’s full-time Chinese training at any Chinese university.
D. Translation (Chinese - English): Applicants must have Chinese proficiency of New HSK level 4 (a total of no less than 180) or one year’s full-time Chinese training at any Chinese university and English proficiency of IELTS 5.0.
★Applicants who apply to start from the second semester of the freshman year or from sophomore year need to pass an entrance examination organized by School of Chinese Studies and Exchange. The date of the examination for entering the second semester of the freshman year is set for January 13, 2015 and the examination for entering as a sophomore or junior will be held on June 30, 2015 (or on August 25, for your convenience).
2) Majors at Songjiang Campus
Applicants must have Chinese proficiency of New HSK level 5or equivalence and pass the entrance examination including subjects of English, Chinese and/or Mathematics. The entrance examination will be held in Shanghai on the last Saturday of May.
